Cool Oil Collar
Tweeks catalog shows a "Cool Collar" which is a finned aluminum device that fits on oil filter and is advertised to radiate heat quickly and lower oil temp 12%. Has anyone ever tried this device? It would be easy to know if it works if you had a oil temp.
Any opinions are appreciated Thanks Chuck |

Do a search on Cool Collar over at the 911 Forum. You won't get a definitive answer, but you will definitely get opinions.

Put the $20 or whatever towards an external oil cooler adapter and really lower the oil temp.
The alum finned sleeve will dissapate some heat (heat transferred from oil in filter, thru tin to aluminum and then to atmosphere). My problem is where the filter is located. No airflow and close to the barrels. Could it be that the heat from the barrels is transferred to the alum fins backthru the tin to the oil? Let's see - a 12% reduction claimed - If your normal oil temp is 250 degrees, that would bring it down to 220 degrees (not bad), if it works. Pardon my disbelief. ![]()

Buy it from a place that has a good return policy. Do before/after tests with a pyrometer and then report back to us.

Hmmm 12%?!?!
![]() Seems someone and the manufacturer did not stay awake in Physics class ![]() Now is that in degrees F, Celsius or Kevin. Then, there is the rest of the math that goes to determine % change. ![]()
