Hello,
I am building a 2056 engine with a new cam, bearings etc. Does the 2.0l come stock with 'double thrust' cam bearings ie side load bearings for the flywheel end in both case halves - the set I have only has this bearing for one half of the case, is it best to go for both? any recomendations? I have a bolt on cam gear for the new 287x .430 cam, the threads in the cam for the bolts do not appear to be the usual M8 bolt thread - does anyone know from experience what these are likely to be? Thanks, |

Don't know about the bolt sizes or the thrust bearings, I had to have a pro re-do my engine. (2056, cam, Webers) I just don't have the space or facilities for major mechanicals.
Be VERY sure to properly Loctite and/or stake the cam drive gear bolts. The PO's wrench (since gone out of business...) didn't do this, and the bolts walked out and ate the oil pump. Very nasty noises, lots of metal in the engine, lots of work to clean it up.Good luck, Harvey

The cam bearing set has only one thrust half. I forget which case half you install it in. Jake Raby's video tells which one if you know someone who has it. Well worth the money.

I have several sets of Kolbenschmidt bearings and they all had only one thrust bearing. I have an extra cam and set of bolts and I can measue them for you. Note, the heads of the cam to gear bolts are shallower than most - mine appear to have been machined - no doubt for oil pump clearance for the reasons described above.
Jakes video is a great help. My 2056 is assembed and I'm just fiddling with carb linkages now.
