help how much is fair 2.0L 914 heads!

I ran across a complete set of 914 2.0L heads. the owner stated that he is a air cooled engine builder. He states that the valves and seats are good and no cracks. but they need a valve job. He wants 300.00 sight unseen. Is this average? Is this a great deal? Anyone familiar with the cost of used heads please let me know, If its a good deal I'll need to move on it soon. Depends on where you are and how desparate you and the seller are.

I just bought a pair of 2.0 heads, no visible cracks, apparently good valves and seats, for $325. I was happy to find them, as most others I have found locally (SF Bay Area) were cracked, had bad valves and/or seats (mine had both), and/or were much more expensive.

Do yourself a favor. Get a money-back guarantee (minus the shipping, of course) and take the heads to a 914-knowledgeable machine shop as soon as you get them. They'll know where to look for cracks, etc., and they can do the valve job for you, replace any guides that need it (likely exhausts at least), etc.

So, is <15 minutes a fast enough reply? ;^)
