Anodized Fuchs
Anybody seen a 914 with the annodized (smooth and rough finish) fuchs advertised by Wheel Enhancements...
Wonder how they would look on a 914... or on a 911 for that matter. Don't think I've seen the wheels mounted on any car. ![]()

I saw some early versions at WE in person before they started promoting them, and I really liked em. I almost had a set done for my former 911 but I wanted to "tone down" the chrome/bright alloy look (LOTS of shiny silvery stuff already on the pre-73 911's) so I stayed with the black painted background. IMHO they would look awesome on certain cars/color schemes but not all. Like you I am not sure I've seen them on any cars yet - maybe once - which might have to do with the non-trivial price...

Check out : Jon Lowe's GT Resource page. I think the red GT listed under Euro GT's has those rims, but it is hard to tell.

Justin,
The wheels on the red 914 appear to be of a single finish, i.e. completely anodized. They do look good. The Wheel Enhancement wheel seems to have an two toned anodized finish that they refer to as "dual anodized (clear/rough)". They look good too! Mike |

Early Fuchs finishing
Attached is a link on my 911 that had a similar finish done to them.
I had Harvey Weidman do a rough finish on the paddles, paint the center sections..drop the paint line into the bottom of the lip, do the lip in the rough finish, and then do a "normal" finish on the outside edge of the lip. They are anodized...so the finish is relatively safe from degradation. Harvey advertises in Excellence...no affiliation, just happy with the work. http://www.pelicanparts.com/swapmeet_pics/R_Gruppe_02/Pic36.jpg regards, Eric |

I called W.E. a while back for a quote on the rim exchange program they advertise and I couldn't have been more put off. Maybe it was just the individual I spoke with but I was told that they didn't do work on 914 rims. My response was "who cares what the rims fit on the finish is the same" plus you're in the rim refurbishing business.
I'm taking my money elsewhere. Regards, Tom |

WE attitude
Had a similar isse with WE, and went to Harvey instead. WE's work is pretty good, but Harvey's work is a little nicer in my opinion (I bought a set of wheels that WE did).
A great alternative for reanodizing or polishing is Al Reed in Anaheim. His work isn't concours exact like Harvey's and he can't do the rough finish...but if you need a regular restoration of any Porsche wheel, or simply a polish and paint....his work is excellent, and very reasonable. Al can be reached at 714 632-3907. regards, Eric |

How does one get a hold of Harvey Weidman.
Does he have a website? Thanks, Karl Ellzey

I noticed that Performance sells the same two tone wheels. They call them "factory refurbished". I wonder if Porsche really does the refurbishing.
I think they are like $250/ea. or somthing but I noticed that they are having a 20% off sale now. $800 for a new/refinished set of Fuchs is a decent deal. |

Try looking up an 8x16 dual anodized wheel... $999.95!
Even at 20% off that's way too much! Karl
