914 OEM Dash Top Value Question

I was wondering what would be a reasonable price to pay for an OEM (1971) dash top that is in excellent condition other than for a 2" crack on the right of the instrument cluster cover/top (where the instrument "bubble" meets the flat portion). There is currently nothing on eBay to go by. . .

I see, from looking through the 914 classifieds here, that good ones go for +/- $500.

That's about what mine cost in "87".

Mark, thanks for your input.

914 owners want perfect dash caps. While in better condition than some, yours is already cracked. It is over 40 years old and will continue to crack with time. It has a value, but it would be minimal and only to someone who is willing to go to the trouble to replace the one they have with yours and accept the likelihood of it cracking even more during shipping and installation. Consider too that new repro dash caps are being developed as we speak and they will be new and not expensive.

Holy crud! I've got a spare from a '74 that is 100% crack-free...and at 5 bills that's way too nice to throw into my "driver"...if you're willing to pay that, I'm willing to deal with having a cracked dash...guess I should toss this on the classifieds...

For a driver I would just have it covered in leather.

Just out of curiosity, and to yank your chains a little, I'm wondering who you gents are responding to, as I haven't seen a post asking what one should do with an existing, cracked dash?

I have never heard of a dash with Any cracks listed as excellent condition.

The 914 I've owned for over 20 years, and am now parting out, can definitely not be described as such - ha! :D

And regarding the dash - when I said in my original post "excellent condition except for the 2" crack" I meant that other than for that, the thing looks excellent.
