Carb conversion procedures

I know this topic has been discussed, and I did do a search for it, but to no avail. Does anyone have the step by step prcedures for converting from FI to carbs. My friend is doing the conversion and is having some electrical problems. He is specifically looking for the wiring diagram for the conversion. He hooked it all up and tried to fire it and he smoked the condenser. I told him to check the connection on the coil, but he said that was right. I'm going over there tonight to help him and would like to have some info in my back pocket.

TIA
Randy Davidson

There aren't any "step-by-step" procedures for converting a FI system to carbs, since most installations are:
  • Hodge-podged-cobbled-together,
No two installs are the same (single 2-barrel, dual 1-barrel, dual 2-barrel), and
Most installs are a "Rip THIS out, and THIS, and THIS, and ...
If you're smoking condensors like popcorn, than yep, the distributor (whatever distributor it is you're using i.e. stock or 009/050) and/or coil is wired improperly.

A Haynes manual (You DO have a manual, right?) should provide the info you need.

He hooked the positive wire to the negative side of the coil.

How else do you fry things like that ?
