SVDA dizzy and non-stock cam
Hi everyone!
I have almost no build details on my motor (GC case 2.0L, Weber 40 IDFs, 009 distributor) I would like to install a SVDA distributor but I'm worried my cam has probably been changed. My webers have vacuum ports. I basically know nothing about cams. Please explain to me what kind of cam would not work (I hear long duration won't work?) and how I would be able to tell it (Torque range? idle?) It seems to have a pretty flat torque curve and the idle is fairly smooth. Thanks! |
you could put a vacuum gauge on the port on the carb. then very slightly open the throttle and see if it pulls any vacuum. in fact, use both carbs, and add a tee. then test the vacuum off of the tee. all your concerned with is from closed to very shallow part throttle.

Great idea! Thanks for the help!

So the stock cam will work, just set-up your carbs and dizzy spot on and you will wake up your engine. |
agreed. plus you will get better fuel mileage, and your engine will run cooler too.
