75-76 bumper question
I have a 75 light ivory 914. I recently was tapped in the rear bumper and am in the process of replacing it. The body of the car was untouched thank god.
Question- the metal bumper portions that the rubber attaches to, are painted white on my car. I have had 2 others tell me in my parts quest, that their's are painted dove grey. Is there any1 else out there that has a white 75/76 with white painted metal bumper sections? Or any other color perhaps? Just trying to figure out what the scoup is here. The car as far as every1 can tell is all orginal paint. Thanks Tod |

I have one '76 (originally Mars red) with black bumpers. I have another '76 (originally orange) with flat white bumpers.

My 76 has light gray beams under the black rubber covers. Years ago a drunk guy in a pickup locked up his brakes and slid into my rear bumper as I sat at a red light in the turn lane. Pretty good shot. No damage, the shocks rebounded, everything still straight. I think the rubber bumpers are ugly, but they are effective.
