A guy on shoptalkforums is asking 225 for his. If you decide to sell it, please contact me at radavidson@attbi.com.
His includes the dizzy for that price. He wants 150 for FI alone. Randy

An interesting question....I have bought a few D-Jet 'complete' FI systems in the 100-150 range, but they are never complete or fully functional. A known good, bolt-it-on-and-forgedaboudit FI system can be worth almost 2000 samolians. There are sub-$200 because they are unkown...lets face it.
Most have removed the FI because they were frustrated and didn't know how or did not want to troubleshoot it. More than likely then, there are at least a few broken parts in that bargain box you get. $100 'Hard' parts. Some parts are rarely damaged, easy enough to find and are not really expensive such as the air filter box, throttle body/plenum, runners, fuel line manifolds, fuel pressure regulator, etc. As a group, those are probably worth a good $100 alone. Even these will need cleaning, painting on your weekend off before they bolt on. $125 Gaskets, air filter, fuel filter, air/fuel hoses. Don't think for a minute that you can reuse the old ones.... Assuming that the ECU is ok (add $300 if it is bad, they don't often fail), if you had to buy all new components for the ones that failed you would spend some or all of the following, not including your time to troubleshoot the bad parts: $500 MPS (new not rebuilt, just because...) $90 Throttle position switch $75 Rebuilt distributor $100 Trigger points, ignition points $350 Rebuilt FI harness. The original harnesses are getting pretty ratty, corroded and failure prone. A rebuilt harness will cost about $350. I know where you can get this... ![]() $200 Fuel pump $400 Fuel injectors, incl cold start valve $25 Head temp sensor $1965 Subtotal, add the value of your time to install, coordinate, shipping taxes, yada yada...This may be the extreme case but its not too far out of line as a worst case scenario. Brad Anders has another excellent cost comparison on his site: http://members.rennlist.com/pbanders/carbs.htm As an FI fan, I am biased...just for full disclosure...the FI is fully worth it too me. |

If you are buying then buying someone's package deal is the way to go. You probably still need to add some items, gaskets, etc as Jeff says. I personally think you could do it for $300-600 if you have the time to wait for the deals and you buy mostly used parts.
If you are selling then selling the mor expensive items individually and then the rest in one lot is probably the way to go. The big ticket item is the MPS. I see these go for around $150 used in good condition. Throttle bodies and injectors seem to go for a few bucks more by themselves. Everything else I've seen sell on ebay for pennies on the dollar. |

As Jeff Bowlsby points out most FI systems that are for sale have some problem. That's why they are for sale! Yeah off Ebay you can find bits and pieces for sale and put together a real mixture of parts that might not work the way it's designed to. I have bought a few odds and ends this way.
But a complete, nice system is worth more than $300! I don't know about $2000 but somewhere in between.... I am talking about a low mileage car that has been maintained and is now going to be a race type car so the FI is stripped off. That's the system to buy, not the greasy rusty pile of parts in a cardboard box where the FI harness is so brittle it breaks when you pick it up. Geoff |

The F/I came off when I built up a 2055cc race engine. The F/I was in good running order when removed and has been in a box for three years. You would have to get new hoses, gaskets and so on. The harness is in good shape. So who wants it for $500.00?

S...weeet.
Another person to run BX. The current BX guy thinks he is off the hook with setting records at all the local tracks for BX. He is the only reason why I'm building a BX car. Looking at his records... he is mostly slower than the current BP cars that are factory injected. Should be fun. Good luck B |

Todd Harter is current BX guy and is good. Kevin Voight is the BP record holder and it is unbelievable how fast he is.
Good luck!

Kevins numbers will fall as soon as the Kolstads get rid of the Kuhmo's and realize that the Hoosiers are worth 3 seconds.
I helped Chris and Chuck with the assembly on their current engine after finding a bus 2.0 cam and NO remote oil cooler in their previous engine melt downs. Chuck was within a 1/10 th of second of Kevins THill record the first time out with the new engine.. and this was on Kuhmo's. Next season will be interesting to say the least. Our main focus is running with SCCA and PRC. B |
