Pelican Parts tire selection

I have asked this question before, but I am looking for some more input on the subject. I have a set of 16x6/7's for my 5-lug conversion. I am perfectly willing to "roll" the rear fender lips to make the 7's fit and I know it can be done...seen it. My question is: what is the tire size should I run on the rear? ...and secondly, is it possible to run 225/50's (which is what I would really like to run). I would like some opinions...anybody out there using this 16x6/7 combo?

Thanks
BH

Depends on who's 225 you run in the rear.

I know the Kuhmo street tire fits on a 7 in the rear and are fairly inexpensive to purchase.

Many tires say 205,ect on them and they end up being much wider or narrower than another tire of the same size.

Go to Tire Rack's web site and look up the tire you want than hit the link for the specs on the tire. This will give you the actual tread width and overall width (and other info). Make yourself a spread sheet of the sizes of different tires and you'll see all "225's" are not the same size. Some 225's are closer to 205's and some closer to 255's. Just depends on what company is measuring.

I am running Dunlop 205 45 16 on all four 16x7 Fuchs wheels on my 75 4 and my 74 6. My 6 originally came with 205 55 16 fronts on 16x7 Fuchs 951s and the rears were 225 50 16 16x7 Fuchs 901s. These were Yoko 008s.
The rear lips have been rolled on both cars.
