I want the lime green? yellow? one next to it.

A well worked out turbo system would probably take 3-4K to duplicate. Add that to the "desireable" '73 2.0 L with all the goodies and you have ?

14K and it hasn't hit the reserve - musta been owned by Donald Trump.

I'd by a -6 for that money.

The car is cherry. I looked at it. The owner, who passed away was very meticulous (sp). The lime green rach car also is cherry. They said that one will be going up on ebay too. I would expect that one to go over $20,000 But I agree on the price on the 2.0 it is too high for a modified 914.

if you go to his other auction, they have nice '68 Mustang for sale...in the background is what looks to be a very clean tub for a 914...

Ah the grey one is mine already paid for just have to pick it up with my trailer this weekend. Went up there to look and see what they had and I ended up buying the grey tub. And that's all it is. No glass no interior nothing but metal.

What's up with the bidding on this car? It looks weird. Why would Kram3927 and Mjaworek repeatedly bid against themselves? Am I reading this incorrectly?

I believe it's some sort of odd artifact of ebay's automatic "proxy bid" setup...

Still looks odd to me. I rearranged the bids by date and it shows that Kram bid 8 times before mjaworek's first bid:

The one guy puts in a bid of say 10,000. The next bids 8,000 but doesn't go over the 10,000. So he keeps bidding untill he goes over the top of the 10,000. It looks like the two are in a bidding war against each other and they don't won't to be outbid but still want the lowest possible price. Ebay proxy bidding is what you see happening, just what Dave saw.

I think this was an unintended consequence for E-bay's bidding system. I expect it has not been changed because it helps push the price up, and make E-bay more money.

Over the weekend we were talking about Sniping and Sniping agents. The main reason to snipe is _not_ to try to steal at any price the auction item. It is to prevent a run up in the price of the item. It's also fire and forget, so I put the price in I'm willing to pay. If it wins, OK. If it doesn't, the other guy paid too much!

If E-bay used a "Silent Auction" model, where everyone put in their top price and then the winner popped at the end, it would keep the prices down a bit. Sniping, or a Sniping agent basically does this.
