Windshield Seal
My windshield trim was sadly butchered in a PO's accident and looks terrible. On the 914 clubs web forum there was talk of a black rubber seal from another vehicle that would take up the space of the trim and replace the chrome. I seem to remember that this came from a Chevy Corsica or the rear window from a Vanagon??? Does anybody have information on this topic? I am about to reseal the windsheild and really need a solution other that buying the chrome again. TIA~MARK

I am currently working on a friends white '71 NON appearance group car. The roll bar trim is black anodized with no side vinyl. His chrome trim was scratched horribly. We sanded, primed, and then painted it black. It looks really nice and matches the rear trim. This car also has steel wheels and black bumpers so the whole thing is very original looking. Just an idea (one that does not require any modifications OR $$$!)

I know this is against the purists opinions, but I used a seal from a Plymouth mommy wagon, circa 1988ish. No one even notices and it has never failed....

Do you just use the seal alone. Or do you still need to use that black "gunk"?
