Rust Free Chassis

Now that I got your attention you can look at my pics of my new car. Just pick her up today. Just minor surface rust on the front hood. The pics show all the usual spots that the tin worms like to eat. This car was spared. Just the thought of no more rust repair is making me smile ear to ear.

The guy was going to make this a concours car. I got lucky enough to stumble upon it. Now I just have to transfer everything over.
Anybody have ideas on how to rust proof these. Looking through some of the access holes I see surface rust. The car is a bare chassis so now is the time for rust proofing.

hey that's great! has less rust then my NORCAL 914, that's for sure. I lived in michigan for 25 years, and yes, this is LIKE GOLD for people out there. congrats on the new rust free chassis.

BRM9148 with your "I'm better than everyone else, I've done it all" attitude it's amazing you can do any business.

This is what is called Wisconsin GOLD. Not everyone has the means or the funds to import an out of state car. I'm guessing about $300 to $500 to bring a car up here, via insuranced transport.

Derek,

you end up being a big ******* like me when dealing with nickle and dime 914 people for so many years. I dont need your business or anybody else from this list.

I find it humurous when people boast of there rust free "mid west" cars when I cant stop the phone from ringing with midwest money guy's looking for 73 2.0's... hum how did they get rust free cars ??? They bought them from here.

I'm sorry your from Michigan where rust rules and "merican" cars rule the land. I was there once and realized where all the decent cars come from... so I moved. You must have moved for a reason.. I moved because of the cars and NO labor unions to speak of.

See you at the next NorCal event.

BFrenz,

I had no idea where you where located.. so my comments where 99% tongue in cheek, sorry that our Michigan native now living in Ca. changed the toon of my post.

Yes. It regulary runs my midwest customers 800-1000 to have cars shipped, but most of them would have spent that in rust repair.

Thats what I paid for the chassis $800. So it is gold at least 800 dollares worth. And if anyone else is interested the car has a warehouse full of 914 parts. He needs to sell everything to settle an estate. I pick up a pair of S calipers for $65. He doesn't want anyone calling looking for a 73 blah blah blah. He wants people to go there and look through the stuff. He doesn't know everything that he has. The original owner passed away and he was the "expert" of his parts collection. Email me if your interested in his contact info. I saw all the parts so I might know if he has it.
Also he has no weather stripping, Brad Mayeur bought some and I bought the rest in a bulk deal.

Yep that's him. Ed died last year. I was kinda surprise Brad didn't buy some other stuff if not the whole lot. He only wants $8000 for everything. Another minature gold mine for someone.

I'll email PerryK and see if he is aware of this guys *stash*. If it wasnt so far away.. It would have already been on our shelves for 8K.

You would be amazed at what we have purchased from shops going out of business in this area.

Garrestons was probably the biggest score several years back.

Good luck on your project. I'm sure it will bring a nice premium if you decide to sell it later on down the road.

Please dont half a_s it like other people I know. Take your time and do it right. It will pay off in the long run.

B,

well, sorry to hear about all the other people who have given you the attitude. I guess everything is always someone elses fault. I am glad you run such a thriving business that you can pass up money at will.

you probably actually do great work, charge fair prices, and obviously have a wealth of knowledge...but I will go elsewhere and spare myself the "better than you" stuff (not that you care).

happy 914'ing!

Derek,

the customers I choose to do business with get my full undivided attention minus the attitude. Keep reading some of these websites, you'll see I bend over backwards to bail 914 people out of problem situations all the time (for free). Attitude, you bet. Its earned.

Oh.. I passed up your money. For my attitude and passing up your money, there will be 2 more people behind you stepping up to the plate. It works every time. Sucks huh ?

I regularly point people away from me when they need work. I have people from LA wanting to bring cars to us (Not ChrisC) and I gladly help them find a shop closer to them.

How bad can I be ?

Derek,

I almost forgot,

Delete everything you see from me. I think PP has a blocking button where you can block anything that I post.

It only gets better from here.

Want to come down to the PA shop on Sunday and help me pull the 2.0 engine out of a cherry factory 914/6 so we can install a 265hp 3.2 engine ??

See.. now I'm offering you the chance of a lifetime. The chance to work on something other than a 72 1.7

LOL. Its ok Derek. Lots of people hate me. They are usually behind us at the track.

B,

haha...that post takes the cake! who says I have or work on a '72 1.7?? pulling an engine with you is supposed to be the time of my life!? I don't think I could be in the same room with you for more than 30 min, LOL.

you are too much! this is actually funny now. I should have let you change the oil on my 3.6 liter 993 before selling it.

I actually do look forward to more of your informative posts in the future. too bad pelican doesn't have software to strip out all your bragging, put downs, poor attitude, and bitterness! LOL

anyways B, you are GOD to all us lowly 914 peons, you win!!!

Careful Derek,

I have already been called 914 GOD today by 2 other people. Your's makes the third. Sooner or later I'll start to believe it.

Actually, I'm really lame when it comes to 74+75 1.8 cars. Other than those, I know my way around.

Sorry to hear you had to sell your 993.

Dont worry about spending any time in the same room with me. I attend all the events and show up unoticed not speaking to anyone unless spoken too. You'll never know I'm in the room unless you ask somebody.

B,

maybe you and that guy from AA can have some sort of contest to determine the undisputed god of 914's?

don't be sorry about me selling the 993, it was by choice, I will step up to a 993TT sooner or later.

and why would I worry about spending time in the same room as you? I doubt we'll ever be in the same place at the same time. if we did, big deal, why would I care? believe it or not, I don't hate you, just can't figure out your tough guy image.

so you're kind of like those recluse movie stars, having to stay out of public to keep away from the flocks of adoring 914 fans? must get rough having to always sign autographs, take pictures, etc.

best of luck with the shop, not that you need it, sounds like you're the most desired 914 mechanic in the world.

Ha ha... oh thats good.

George and I have a lot in common. The only thing I disagree about AA is the "building" of 9146's and Limited Edition cars that never existed. I applaud Georges efforts towards marketing and buying state license plate lists to push his catalogs.

As far as the shop goes:

I do this for fun. I maintain and build a few race cars.. I convert a few cars here and there. Thats all. I have never claimed to the be the worlds best at anything but BS'ing.

Movie star.. hum. I have been called "Hollywood" when I played two man sand vollyeball. Come to think of it, my picture has been taken at every event I attend. Scary. Thanks for pointing that out to me.

hey B, how much for a signed glossy 8x10?

I'm thinking of putting it above the tool chest to give me inspiration to ever finish my project.

heck, I bet a lot of people would buy these. maybe even your own calendar, 12 hi-res rugged poses with you and different 914's!
