Has anyone had any experience with MARK STEPHEN'S HIGH PERFORMANCE?
Than have a new web page and i was wondering about there 2.7l kit.
Will the 2.0 hold up, and also how would it perform on the street.
Please advise! Thanks

i bought a set of heads for a vanagon, p/c's, other items for a rebuild. no problems encountered. seemed to be nice and helpful.

In my experience they tend to err on the side of caution. In fact even at that point of a build up they are cautious. I would call them and talk to Mark and tell him that ou have some mixed feelings and I'm sure they will help you out. They are VERY customer friendly.~MARK

For what it's worth, I seriously doubt a 2.7L 914 motor would be very durable for daily driving. Fun, HECK yeah! But not for all that long...

I'd say anything over 2.2 maybe 2.4L you also have to look into non-stock cooling. I.E. a big honkin' oil cooler, with a inline thermostat. Also either a upright 911 type shroud or an electric vertical fan setup (good luck finding one of these with an alternator backet).

I agree with DD, the MS 2.7L and Fat's 2.8L are not long lived motors. I dunno ask Mark how long they usally last.

I have bought a couple of heads from them for my 914, and they seemed very helpful, and the heads were spotless when I got them and are still going strong to the day. A heard someone say something about a fan shroud? Well I think it is the 914 network that has a horizontal fan setup, real cool stuff, it is like the 917 fan. I remember a disclaimer about fitting with stock fuel injection, but give them a call anyway? They advertise on dgi.net/914
