making this board software work???
I frequently come back to the board after having read messages only to find that the same messages I just read are still marked as unread. It just happened. I read several 914 topics, went over to the 911 board and read some stuff there, and then came back to find all the same 914 topics as unread.
Is there anything I can do so this works correctly? |
I wonder if it is cookie based.
If it is, make sure cookies are enabled on your browser. Also make sure you are automatically logged in when you get to the board. I don't know if this will fix the problem but its a start! |
Click the "refresh" icon.

I also get the feeling that the board program has some logic that won't set messages to "read" until you have been away from all of the Pelican boards for some amount of time. (I.e., no new activity, read/write/etc.)
But that's just a guess from the way things appear to me to be working... I don't think it's a bug in the software or anything. --DD |
Refresh doesn't fix the problem when it occurs. I have cookies enabled. Most of the time it works fine but maybe once every day or two it doesn't seem to register a session of reading topics so when I come back they are all still marked unread.
I have been tripped up in the past by having more than one browser window open so I've been careful not to do that anymore. |
In Internet Explorer
Click Tools Internet Options General Tab Next to Temporary Internet Files... click settings and make sure the "Every visit to the page" is checked next to Check for newer versions of the stored pages |
