The scab plates are very beefy. I can shoot some close-up pics later in the week before I paint & pad the cage. I am not sure whether the tubes pass down into the longs or are just welded to the scab plates.

The Petty bar actually doesn't interfere too much with passenger seating. (B & I talked about this.) I will need to run with instructors from time to time during licensing, but for the most part I won't even have a seat installed on the right side. I will be pissed if they make me cut that tube out, although I guess a bolt-in setup could be fabbed.

Safety stewards have been known to survive having kittens... ;) They might let you run passengers with the bar in place, but I'd be surprised if they were really happy. Then again, I could be talking from too limited a sample! (Been known to happen, right B?)

The ones I have seen getting worked on (two so far, but not Chris') were on all four wheels as the welding was done. The door opening braces are a neat trick to keep the chassis from warping!!

All instructors will love the fact that you showed up with a cage and not a BS bolt together 3 point setup.

The petty bar is by no means in the way of the passenger. It crosses over about where your knees would be (between them)

Scab plates: SCCA says we can use 100sq inches of scab plate material for IT and production cars. The material must be as thick if not thicker than the tubing used to make the main hoop.

Can you guy's tell I love building and racing these cars ??
