tail light connections

would someone post the wire color-terminal connections for the rear tail lights. i can't follow the haynes or the pelican color diagrams, or at least the info is incomplete.

i have these 5 terminal identifications on the taillight housing:

31 R RF 54 58

i have these 5 wire colors:

brown black/brown grey/brown grey/red black/yellow

for the right rear tail light, i can tell from the PP color schematic that bk/yw -> 54 gy/rd -> 58 but i can't find the others.
i did record the connections before i removed the wires but i don't know if my lights don't work because of the corrosion (now cleaned) or if they were misconnected. many TIA.

Your in luck. I just did this a few days ago.

Left side:

RF- gray/brown
31- brown
58- white/black
54- black/yellow (two wires)
L - black/white

Right side:

R- black/green
31- brown
58- white/red
54- black/yellow
RF- grey/brown

Note: first color is main insulation color, color after / is stripe. Look closely at the white/red and grey/brown as they can look identical without good lighting.

like: to remove the reset button on the shaft of the cable to reset the trip odo...... there is a set screw tiny-tiny-tiny set screw..

thanks again (now if i could just fix the horn...)
