how do u get torque from a type 4

I realize,..that HP is important for the speed of a car BUT,..how do ya, go about getting the torque out of it,using a 76 2.0 fuel injection system,..I would think that torque is more important maybe that HP,..Clue me in Pls .....Thanks Frank

We used to say....."HP impresses the girls but torque wins races!". The best way is a longer stroke crank and a "torque" cam. Not cheap I am afraid.

Lighten it.

Ok,.John, what is not cheap,..and or how would I find such parts..??? Thanks Frank

Since you are in AZ I would suggest taking a drive to Phoenix and visit Jim Patrick at Patrick Motorsports. He is very knowledgeable in 914's. What you need is a 78mm crank, clearanced case with big bearings, longer rods, pistons with shorter skirts and a cam with some flowed heads to take advantage of it all. It cost me about $10,000 to build a racing 2.8L type four with 220 foot pounds of torque at the rear wheels and it was a blast to drive.

Damn,..U were right, thats to pricey for me,..although I bet its a blast..!!!! Thanks John

Install a wet nitrous kit. The cold start valve is the extra fuel delivery but you
need to wire that switch to your nos switch. An extra 50 to 75 hp would be safe
level for a stock engine.

The saying is HP sells cars, torque wins drag races.
