bumper glue?

My bumper pad has a crack init. Thought I'd use black silicone to glue it back together and clamp it till it cures.

Anyone ever glued one before and what did you use?

On my car the black roll bar pad that goes around (top and sides) the interior side of the rear window is black vinyl with a foam backing. This piece also conceals the rear top latches. On my car this pad has begun cracking at the outer corners. I found that a pretty good repair can be made using black Permatex automotive silicone sealer. I filled the cracks with sealer, smoothed them a well as possible, and placed a strip of plain paper masking tape over the area. The tape acted as a mold to form a smooth surface with the silicon. The tape adhesive did not stick to the silicon and peeled away cleanly and left a smooth surface. Not bad for this small repair.
