'70 1.7 dizzy

Hello,
I looked through the tech areas and some old posts but couldn't find the info I needed on vacuum control of the dizzy. I put a hand vacuum pump on one of the lines and seem to get good smooth rotation of the plate proportional to the vacuum level. Seems to hold vacuum well (this is the red 5mm line in Marc-Andre Morin's vacuum hose drawing). However the other line (yellow 4mm) won't really hold a vacuum and will only rotate the plate (opposite direction as previous) if I keep pumping like crazy. Is this normal?
Thanks
Ed

Sounds like the diaphragm is leaking, at least in one area. Or perhaps the housing for the diaphragm. Or maybe even the hose...

Leaks aren't what you want. Isolate the leak, and repair or replace the leaking part.

Dave,
Thanks for the feedback.
Since my diaphram's leaking, I checked the one on my 1.8 l-jet motor and it appears to be good. They physically look the same except for the mounting holes. Is this the only difference?
Thanks
Ed
