Machine shop dipping a ss heat exchanger

Is this a wise thing to have done to a SS exchanger?

I have alot of grime and grit in the core. I was hoping to take it to a machine shop and have it dipped to get rid of all the grime.

If you have had this done let me know if it work well.

Thanks

as long as the chemicals are fully neutralized and washed away you should not have any problems....

you might find them too pretty to put back on :)

Sounds good as long as its not an acid dip. There was another thread about removing oil and deposits from the inside of exchangers. I wonder if shops can force solution through the exchangers to help remove deposits. Let us know how it works out.

Thanks.. I'll take some photo's before and after. I hope to drop it off this week some time.

I'll try to get as much info on the solution used as I can.

Hi Kerry!

Did you ever get this done?

What were the results?

No I didn't the prices were WAY to high. I found a cleaner (I'll get the name if you want) that worked SOOOOOO much better then GUNK.

I used GUNK 2 times and the results were not good. I then, by chance, used this spray bottle cleaner, WOW. very clean. Another plus was there was no bad smell.

If you are looking to do it at home let me know and I'll give you the name of the cleaner.

Best of luck

Can we have the name of the cleaner anyway? :D
