Dwell with Electronic Ignition?

Should I be getting around 50 deg. of dwell with EI/pointless dist?

My ancient Dwell Tach is indicating 20 - 25 deg. or so on the new
HotSpark 034 SVDA I have installed w/High Energy coil.

Not aware of any way to change or adjust, and nothing in the
install instructions I can find about that.

Am I barking up the wrong tree here?

Thanks,

p2

Your don't specify which unit you have but with a Pertronix you set the air gap and then time it. No dwell involved that I'm aware of,

As far as I am aware, dwell is not relevant or meaningful once you replace the points with something else.

If the air gap is in spec, don't worry about the dwell.

I have used the Pertronic system for over 13 years in my 74 1.8 with stock fuel injection. I check the air gap once a year. No change no problem! Very low maintenance, which gives me more time to enjoy my 914.

Come to find out checking dwell kinda 'pointless' with EI installed.

Good to know.

Moving on...woof.
