Oil temperature sensor wire

I have a 1975 914 with the center console gauges. I have just rebuilt the engine and am hooking it back up. But I cannot find where to plug in the oil temperature sending unit. The schematics I have seen do not have it attached to the aft circuit board. I have not been able to find the green/black wire to hook up. Where is the pigtail?

HELP,

neilca

The oil temp sender is on the underside of the engine, in the sump plate that is held on by two bolts. For obscure reasons, this gets called the "taco plate". There is a specific version that has a mounting point for the sender.

The wire goes from the sender across the front of the motor, over toward the oil cooler. One of the bolts on the clamp around the cooler also holds one of the holders for the wire. The wire terminates in a box connector over in the right-front corner of the engine bay, which plugs into the green/black wire in the main wiring harness. That wire goes up to the center console break-out.

Thanks Dave,

I was looking on the left side. I will search for it this week. I am not using the stock sheet metal so my routing may differ.
