Bilstein Front shocks ?
1 Attachment(s)
Hi,
Please help me with this: My father bought on ebay a pair of front bilstein shocks at $ 100.00 usd that I already have on my hands. But I´m not sure that this shocks are Bilstein. The shocks cames in a Bilstein box that says on hand writing 73-89 911 or 75-84 Turbo. I have the doubt that this shocks are Bilstein because don´t say the brand and the color is like polished aluminium (the other bilstein shocks that I have are yellow with blue and I know that exist greens and black). The shock are gas operated and the serial number is : 5195001H002 (housing) B36-556A-9 ( looks more than bilstein numbers, this are in the plastic or mounts ) I can´t find the serial number in the bilstein web page but I saw that exist diferent shocks for diferent struts (boge, bilstein, koni) I want to use this shocks on my 914 with 74 911 front supension. My question are: 1.- Do this shocks are Bilstein ?, if not what brand are ? 2.- My struts are original, then are boge ? Let me know thanks and regards |
If knowledge is power then in this case don´t have the knowledge is be stupid !
In this moment I feel like ! For saving some bucks, I will need to spend a lot more to can use it. I already call bilstein and ask for this shocks cartridges: 1.- Yes, it´s bilstein ! 2.- But only can be used in bilstein shocks cartridges covers a with bilstein struts. I believe that my struts are boge ? Can somebody please tell me if can adapt this cartridges to boge covers ? let me know regards |
I can't help with your shock question. I just wanted to say Hi and ask if you received my return email the other day.

Rich:
Hi, Yes, I received your email. I will send you in a few min and email regards |
Eduardo,
I think your best bet is to resell them or get to be good friends with a machinest that can make the appropriate spacers for them to fit. Good luck.... |
Mike Mueller:
Yes, probably I wil buy another shocks for this application and store this cartridges until I upgrade my other 914 to 911 front suspension this time with bilstein struts. thanks |
Looking at the picture, those appear to be the guts of the strut or to rephrase it, they look like a rebuild kit or piston and valve assembly for bilstein struts. It also appears that bilsteins do have internal bump stops.
