Timing 74 2.0 F.I.

I'm double checking on the 27 degrees from TDC.
The articles i read talk about marking to the left of tdc, (drivers side ) but i see a pic of marking to the right side from Dave Darling mentioning the engine toward the TOP of this pic. My engine is at the bottom of this pic.
Dave is this a flipped neg of the pic ?

Thank you again...

Timing

Here's a picture showing the TDC mark and the 28 degree mark on a T4 fan. The TDC mark is close to the seam of the case, the full advance mark is to the right, one blade before the rib. All 1.7 and 2.0 914s are timed using this mark, engine at operating temperature, hoses off and plugged, at around 3000 RPM. This photo is for illustration purposes; ignore the junk oil filter and the POS 009 distributor.

Just so you know, a lotta folks transfer the marks to the painted side of the fan, making them much easier to see when the engine's in the car and you're laying on the trunk lid with the engine at 3000 RPM.

Good luck! The Cap'n
