718 Replica

Last week at Pomona... this 800 lb with motor replica car was on display.

Retired boat builder looking to start sales of this replica of a 718 in kit form.

FYI, no connection, blah, blah, blah

Standard Boxter is about 13 lbs/hp

Boxter S about 11 lbs/hp

Put in 100 hp in this car and have some fun.

Any talk about how much? Personally I would pick one of these over a 550 spyder.

Quoted cost was $5k, you supply VW pan, need to shorten by 14", but advantage is you can get it registered 73 or earlier via the pan. Also, windshield, lights and other trim pieces are all available aftermaket and don't come with the kit... guess you have to contact him to find out all that is included.

A couple more shots of the interior he put in the car + engine

He put engine in rear, but offered up that it could easily be set up as a mid engine car with tranny in rear.

Garage
With a Type IV motor

Of course this would need all the goodies. I think these are beautiful cars. I would guess if one would put Porsche parts into this project it would go like a bat out of H____! Brakes, 901 trans, at least 2.0L type IV. These were mid engine right?
OOPS looking at the pics this one is rear engine. HMM how can we fix that.
