Headlight retainer and surround screws?
Hi all - in the course of refinishing the headlight buckets I notice that the 3 headlamp retainer screws and the 3 plastic surround screws have been reduced to mere bits of disintegrating rust with nary a semblance of threads left. Anyone know where I can source these screws - or how did you solve this issue? The local hardware store - even with their huge fasteners section - is not going to have these.
TIA! |

Short of finding used buckets in good condition, I'd suggest sourcing some hex nuts of the correct thread dimension, then epoxy them onto the back side of the bucket. Make sure there's sufficient free clearance through the thrashed thread hole for the screw to thread into the newly attached nuts. Epoxy is fine. This isn't a high-stress component.
I believe the other three screw holes are to attach the plastic headlamp surround to the bucket. They are called U-type Tinnerman nuts. Metric is preferable if you can find them. Or are just the screws damaged? Porsche dealer is one option. Pelican? Wrecking yard? ![]() Inspect your nylon/plastic adjustment blocks as well (2/bucket). Sherwood |
