another front brake caliper question
 

I have been looking on what to do about my brakes. stock calipers? 320 calipers? I have noticed that some people selling 320 calipers say that 70 thru 72 cars take one kind of caliper ( that 72 and below are strictly bolt on and 73 and above need to be machined ) In regard to stock, that 70-72 are one kind and 73 and above are another. Where I an confused is that I have found several sources that say " late 72 and above" for machined calipers. Does that mean that some late 72 cars might have the 73 style caliper? My 72 was one of the last 36 cars produced for that model year and has several 73 features. I have holes for the front bumper protectors, but no protectors and I have a 150 MPH speedo, both of which the Original owner says that was the way he picked it up from the dealer. ( he bought the car with 7 miles on it.) I know that both the bumper and speedo could have been replaced, but the Original owner has no reason to lie about it. He provided a wealth of original paperwork with the car and was not trying to misrepresent it in any way as I only paid him $500 for the car. I'm just curious about the 72 parts vs the "late 72" parts. Anyone have any experience with "late 72's?" The same problems might arise with Brake hoses too.

It seems that the 914s had parts installed that "just happened to show up" when the cars were being assembled. As an example our 1974 has a 1973 wiring loom and has a combo gauge with oil temp even though it came with a console! The only way to be sure is to measure and/or check the parts in question and then you'll know. I'd not take anyone's "word" since there is bound to be exceptions. Good luck.
