Thumbs up So Cheap!

I spent 15.00 for an RX-7 front oil cooler yesterday at our local pick and pull!!!! I am psyched!
Can any of you tell me which connection is the inlet vs the return to the motor (top or bottom)? I would like to use the integrated thermostat and would think I could really cause issues if I have it flowing the wrong way. I am taking it to a radiator shop to be cleaned tomorrow. It was out of a low mileage car that was rear-ended, so I am not that concerned.

Any help is greatly appreciated....

Scott S

cheepskate! I cannot answer your question, but I would advise just calling or taking it by an import mechanic. They would prolly be able to tell you. Good score!

I called the Mazda dealer and asked what that part cost new. I hope he was wrong because he said $620.00! I have heard that using the thermostat in the cooler was not a good idea if you are going to put it in the front. And why would you buy a long skinny cooler if you were no going to put in the front. Just teasing, I've never seen one except thru the grill.

Hi Mike -
Yep - out there on Peoria. They had several RX-7's but only one with the front cooler. It appears they only come on the carbed cars. They are very easy to remove, took less than 25 minutes!

FYI - saw the pics from the run. Am I correct in that the new car has French tail lights? What would it take to relieve you of those eyesores? I would be happy to help you out of that embarassing situation with some euro lenses. I will also personally take them with me so that nobody sees you trying to get rid of them - Anything for a pal! ;-)

Just spoke to Mazda - the bottom fitting is the inlet and the top is the return.

Thanks Scott, but...

I'm kinda fond of those rear lenses on the tangerine car. I even think the US front orange lenses, the half orange rear lenses and the paint color work pretty well. So probably won't be doing a swap anytime soon. I do appreciate you sensitivity though...

What's the difference between French and Euro? Are mine French? No idea. SOunds like the makings of a new thread.

The euros are clear reverse, red brake/tail lights, yellow turn signals (they look awesome on orange cars, btw........)

The French are the same but with orange/yellow reverse lights (they look much better on WHITE cars - especially on white cars that have yellow headlights and French import plates..... )

In all seriousness - congrats on the new ride!
