Hey URY914 sorry for the plagiarism. Got any more pictures of that car? I like how both pictures of my favorite cars are taken at the same angle......even with the "cheap" bumpers.
|
What size Fuchs, width and diameter, are on the 916? If the photo was taken around 1981-83 then I assume 16" were not too common so they are probably 15". But what about the width? 7" or 8"?

Speedo,
That may be the only picture I took of the 916, but I went to college in Jax and use to hang out that the Brumos race shop when it was just north of downtown. It was the original dealship building before they moved out to the Atlantic Blvd. location. This was in '82 and '83 not long after Peter went to the beach for the last time. The 916 use to sit in the corner of the shop under a car cover with a flat tire. Philinjax posted here one time that he had a chance to by it for something like 10 grand. mfa914, The wheels were 15" for sure. I have the R&T article at home (at work screwing off now) so I could look up the wheel size but I would bet they are 7 and 8's. Paul |
My info saiz that the 916 came with 15x7 Fuchs with 185/70 VR 15 tyres. Wheel spacers were used.
Could very well be 15x8 on the rears in the pic though... Cheers, Jeroen |
where is that rear decklid lip spoiler available?
|
$30k now, it's getting up there...
anyone think it will hit $40k? |
couldn't go any higher all I had was $30,000
|
If you guys remember there was a $70,000 914 a few months ago. The car was black and from Sarasota. I heard it sold for the asking price.
|
never heard of that one, what the heck did it have for $70k?
|
Was the 70k one the Italian one with less than 3,000 miles??
|
Yeah I remember that! It was the limo right?
|
NOOOOO!! Not the freakin' limo!!!!!!!
Don't start that again!!!! |
lol sorry man it was too easy.
|
Ok, I looked at the Excellence ad last night, it says the car weighs 2000 lbs.
How the heck do you take a car that weighs 2000 lbs, add a heavier engine, add a heavier transmission, add oil tank/coolers, bigger wheels and tires, roll cage, flares, etc. and gain zero weight? I didn't see anything about CF body panels. What gives? Don't get me wrong, I think the car is great, I just hate people making up numbers. Maybe he meant 2.8 instead of 3.8 L motor (j/k but that's my point). |
that's got to be wrong, no way that car can be 2000lbs.
|
I thought the limo was 2000 pounds.

"...when outfitted for formal duties, the executive coach weighed in at 2,312 pounds. However, due to some ingenious engineering by the Karmann designers, the vehicle could be easily transformed for competitive uses. When setup for Autocross, the executive coach shed 301 pounds to get down to its competitive weight of 2,011 pounds." |
Oh Geez, here we go again...
|
If Mr. King really wanted the ultimate 914, he really should have lengthened the wheebase. You know, that makes it takes the turns at the AutoX better.
If only he had found one of those 3 rare factory 4 door 914s to start with. You know the ones built for Snow White to haul the dwarves around the black forest in! |
I'm fairly certain the Jeff Hays car does have some glass bodywork, but still, it seems extremely doubtful it is really 2000lbs. Maybe more like 2200, could be higher.
