914 seats?

I just received a set of 914 seats on a trade I'm trying to find out what year they maybe out of. They are in almost perfect condition they are black with the basketweave inserts. They also have the seat belt light cushion sensors in both of the seats if it makes a difference. I was also wondering what they are worth, I may or may not use them in my MX5 I have not decided yet.

A few pics

Those are later year seats, 73+ because of the adjustable passenger seat. As for value, check the cost for a recover, adjust your price accordingly for wear and tear, core seats are hard to get rid of, so no real add there. GLWTS!

I have a 1974 914

I have a 1974 914 1.8 and the seat look like the ones in the picture. (but mine are tan)

Both seats are adjustable and have the sensors in the cushions.

Hope this helps

Those are really nice examples. With the tracks attached, I'd place value somewhere between $250-$400 for the set. The big problem with selling seats is shipping. I sold a set of cores from my '76 and got $75 plus shipping. It's very difficult to find a carton that two will fit in. If you do ship them, you definitely want to remove the tracks or that will rip the vinyl up. Find a local buyer looking for a good set and max out your sell price.

The 72s also had moveable passenger's seats.

The basket weave doesn't look like the wider pattern used in 75-76, so I'd think these are 72-74. The one on the left side of your first picture is the driver's seat; it has the tilt mechanism on the left side, and in front of that lever is a dish for the hand-brake handle.

Value is kind of tricky. As Glademeister said, shipping can be a killer. Maybe ping Brad Mayeur at 914 Limited in East Peoria to get a feel for what they go for locally? Or heck, if they're nice enough he might be interested.

They might be a viable option in your Miata if you want more headroom.

Glademister and mepstein are right on the ball price wise, gee 400 is reasonable as you can't recover a set for that if they are done correctly.
Best set I've seen for a long time for sure, sell them and make a 914 owner happy (:.

Yes, the 1972 has the movable seat on passenger side. one thing about nice used original seats is that often the vinyl is dried out, it may look nice and Armor All up all nice and shiny but the vinyl maybe near end of life. I had some nice looking ones, but they quickly cracked when sat on and don't resist folks sitting on them on top of the seat belt buckle as a new vinyl cover will. I have seen this on many classic cars, the vinyl looks great maybe a nice original car, so little visible sun damage, maybe even had covers on them since new, but the vinyl maybe dried out, so when put into use, they can easily be cracked. Not saying for sure yours are dried up, but that can be a concern. best bet is a low mileage garaged kept set of seats. so beware of that. you might, just may be better off with a new recover vinyl seat. if the vinyl you have is still soft and pliable, then that is great. so don't go by looks alone, Press on the seat cushion and determine if the vinyl is hard or not.

If a prior owner used harsh chemicals to clean the seats, that to can dry them out.

The seams on the bolsters at the bend are different on both the one on the left has sort of a double seam which matches my '70 914-6. The one on the right looks like a single seam, anyone else notice that? Maybe the one on the right is '73 -'74.
