I have a small amount of rust in the well area in the tank. It does not appear to be flaking but just discolored. What is the best way to proceed?

No flaking, no layer of sludge........keep driving. Change fuel filter if you don't have a history of last time it was replaced.

Yeh, I'd like to know an answer to this ques as well. I think the POR 15 folks have a product for this purpose, anyone tried it?
BTW, I'm not going to keep driving a car with ANY rust in the tank just changing filters regualarly. |

I used the Por 15 tank sealer on my leak free tank after finding sludge in bottom of fuel tank. While using low pressure from a garden hose to remove sludge, holes covered and sealed by sludge revealed several small holes in bottom of tank........bummer!!
Using the chemicals provided with the Por 15 fuel tank sealer kit, tank was cleansed of debri and sealed of all leaks. About a 3 day job, most of it waiting for various chemicals to cure. Por kit cost about $50. Thought about buying a used tank but did not know what kind of surprises would be there to deal with. I researched the Por 15 sealer kit and heard nothing but positive comments. Of course, if a new tank was available, that would have been my number one choice. Zeke........you might be surprised if you peaked in fuel tank of a 5 year old car. I've found rust in just about every tank I've been in. John

I have used it also. Before the POR 15, take some roofing nails or small gravel w/ hot water and shake the livin' piss out of the tank for 30 min. Rinse well. Add POR metal ready and slosh around again. This neutralizes the rust. Let completely dry before tank sealer.
I am doing my second tank as we speak, well started anyway. Patience. Korijo |

4 lug Brake options
Hello,
I am thinking of upgrading my brakes on my 74 914 2.0.. They are pretty weak and I need a new mastercylinder to start with.. What I want to know is how good is the stock system with Pagid Pads and 19mm mastersylinder with slotted rotos and brake ducts? What about the BMW brakes? Are they really all that much better with the same non-vented rotor? I am open to the 911 5 lug hubs and calipers becuase I have two sets of 15x7 rims but I also have a full set of 4 lug Mahle that are really nice and light!! Any ideas?? Thanks, Ron

Thanks for the info the tank was very clean except the area at the inlet and that was not that bad so I will add another fuel filter in line before the pump and hope for the best. I put new lines in and left enough to be able to remove the tank with out disconnecting it.
Thanks again bernbomb914
