Definition of Concours/showroom
Hey all, trying to get some input on an accepted defintion of an all original, non restored concours car. Please post pictures if you have them. Any PCA judges out there?

Original Concours showroom Car...Complete, Must look like a 6 month old car or new...call it dealer prep. Must not have been improved, No mods . No turbo tie rods, no 195/60/15's, no header, no steel fuel lines, And if you go with the general concours theme, ER/ NASA clean. Original glass with markings, no,or dealer original, radio, seat belt buzzer works. Spare tire windshield washer works. How about the K in a circle paint marks found on the rear trailing arms? Absolutly zero rust...original paint, upholstery, gauge needles that are not faded! anything else to add?
However, in the the 914 world very few drill down to this level. And even fewer are capable of judging at this level. That is that they recognize the originality and correctness of parts, fit and finish and options.

A new emphasis is being placed on *original* cars. But this is another showing class. The more original, the more points. Concours is equivalent to flawless. Brand new cars would not get 100 pts. because the CWs rub on the bottom side as much as the top.

Milt is correct; Preservation class cars are not supposed to be "perfect' in the usual CW sense, like the restored cars. They are supposed to show a bit of usage and "patina" that corresponds to their age and mileage. Obviously a well-used vintage race car will look more beat up than one of these 15,000 mile museum type cars. But the preservation guys are looking for originality - no upgrades, no restoration, any repairs should be done using factory parts (i.e. used parts off the make year/model so you can't even tell).
