Wiper function/electrical
 

Hi Everyone,
First post here & I need some help wiring the wipers. We've eliminated the wiper switch, & using a toggle. My question(s):
1) What do the different lugs on the wiper do? I've grounded the motor & putting power to the different lugs I could get it to turn on two lugs. COULD - now it only works on one lug. :confused:
2) How do I get them to park?
Any help is much appreciated.

I'm much less up on the wipers than other parts of the car, but here is what I think I remember:

Inside the wiper motor assembly there are a couple of switches that tell the system where the park position is. You make the motor run by applying power to one of the wires that goes to it, and make it park by applying power to a different wire. (Possibly to both wires at once; I am not certain on that!!) If the wipers are close enough to the park position, they won't move any more once you tell them to park.

Check the wiring diagrams available elsewhere on this site for how the circuits are laid out.

Try searching on here and both of the other 914 sites and you'll get a lot of questions about this. Some racers like to replace their whole heavy motor and linkage system with a small wiper motor from a boat as I did on my race car. That saves quite a few pounds.....

I've been over the wiring diagrams & they show the motor connected to the relay (which I don't have, but we're getting one), but don't show the function of the switch...
I'll let you know how I work it out.
