What color is this car?

Anyone know the official color of this purple?

The Badge inside the door simply states "98" as the color code.

L98P was Metallic Blue, this is a repaint. Look like aborigine unless its metallic.

The badge doesn't say "L98P", it says "98."

It still does not match ANY Factory "standard color" code chart for 914'S.

Maybe its a VW colour. I've seen Golfs and Corrado's in this colour, metallic aubergine.
I think its quite attractive, although not original.

Mark De Bernardi has a car like that...I am not sure if it is Purple or Aubergine.

He has photos on his site of the car.

http://homepage.mac.com/markd/PhotoAlbum11.html

See photo album 12 there too or contact him.

I think it was a paint to match color.

If it isn't original and the badge is...

How do you explain the badge?

Yes, I've seen Mark's and this is exactly the same only well cared for.

The owner recently had a new engine put in and the mechanic stated all he say was purple...

It does look like mine only shiny. Not really my kinda color. I've been tempted to order the Authenticity Cert. for that car just to see what all it came with. I can confirm the 98 paint code. The "other" colors site says that 89 was the custom paint code, but either that's backwards or they were both custom. I'd say it's Aubergine.
