Front will fit just fine, rears however, will be a problem without doing something with the fender. You just don't have enough room back there.

Hello,
You rears may fit just fine, I did not have adapters when i did my 5 lug conversion (I used drilled stock 914 hub and rotor) but when I put my original 14"X5.5 Fuchs on I had 33mm extra space between the wheel and fender (The adapter is 21mm I think) I ended up buying 28mm H&R 5 bolt spacers to fill the nasty gap. At minimum you will need to work the fender slightly. But I think all 914s are a bit different! Good luck, |
From what I've heard you use the 4-to-5 bolt adapters as paper weights. I personally wouldn't want those to be the only thing holding my fuchs wheels on!

In my eye bolt-ons are no less safe than bolt on spacers. I know the five stud areas are drilled so the studs will pass close to the four bolt holes, but surely this is done on the rear hub when converting from four to five with less material.
Now wheel balance when running these converters is another problem entirely! |
I really hate those adaptors. I do not think they are safe enough for a 914 that gets driven the way 914s are supposed to be. I also don't know any sanctioning body that will let you autoX with them.
If you're gonna do the job, do it right. Pressed-in studs is the only way to fly. --DD |
Well, all i can say is that i used to have a set of those 4-to-5 lug adapters. Being a hard-headed man, and not wanting to listen to warnings about them.... i bought the, anyway.
Ive had a very hard time just BOLTING them safely on the hubs! I didnt go further than put them back in the box and sell them on Ebay for more than ive bought them for! After that ive had my rear hubs redrilled, repressed for 40US$. Now i feel safer, if someone can feel safe in a 914....) |
