Replacing 1.7 with 2.0

What is the average going rate for a rebuilt 2.0? No core. Thanks! Jon

Three years ago I paid $600.00 for a running but tired 2.0 motor and had it rebuilt for an additional $3800.00. It was a very good rebuild and included all new parts except for the case and crank. Another option is the classified sections of this and other webpages, like the 914 club. There are many engines and parts available for good prices.

Well if you are doing it all yourself and forgo the new cylinders then you can get away with ~$500 in parts and ~$500 in machining at a shop. Then YOU assemble and make purr.

Some folks don't want or cannot do this themselves. The rest of us LOVE it. . .

Thanks for the good info! I found a local repair shop that specializes in Porsche repairs. They said they could rebuild and install a 130-140 HP 2.0 for $4,300. I wish I could do the work myself and save $$$ but when I've attempted this sort of thing in the past it usually ends up going to the shop any way. Thanks! Jon
