My German friend would like to see pics about how you flare your rear fenders, and we are NOT talking about GT flares or f/g race flares now.

I remember that Mike Muller flared his rear fenders cutting long horizontal cuts and welding more material to the cuts. I just don´t know if those pics are still somewhere in the net. Are they ??

It would be very nice to see other pics too from ready cars and flares under work.

Note that the "ball bat" method will pull the lower corners of the fender panel inward a bit, which may result in slightly uneven panel gaps and a very subtly odd-shaped fender.

Hey Timo,

Here is a link to a few of my pictures....the one picture showing the drivers side qtr panel missing is not the way to flare the fenders. I had to replace that qtr panel at time of flaring out the fenders.

Rich F.'s flaring looks a lot better than mine.

Just the posting person and software. They've been shrinking the pics down from 1600x1200 (or 1200x1600) to something a little more load-friendly. Sometimes they don't get the aspect ratio quite correct when shrinking, and the result is that the pic gets "squished".

John Kelly, I like those 914 flares. Did you make them from an existing 914 fender? i.e. cut off a doner car, formed, then welded on?

I will post this thread to my German friend and hope it will help him clear what to do with his car.

I have to admit that those Mike´s flares look good. They are so unnoticeable. It is a pity if the car is wrecked now. :(
