More rear reflector questions...

I have a line on an original reflector kit in new/unused condition.

The seller is finding out what all is in the kit but what I am looking at is an uncut reflector, trunk popper, wiring, etc.

The price being asked is around $600.00 is that fair for this kit?

Was this kit a Porsche part or third party?

Is there any advantage to using this kit over using a cut-down 911 reflector?

Thanks to all for the help.

    $600 ???

I just bought the same thing, for 85 bucks shipped, slightly used. 600 seems outrageous to me.
They are NOT original parts. I have since put mine up on Ebay. I hung on to the solenoid, for now. I changed my mind about the reflector.

Thanks... pretty much my thoughts.

I could see maybe $100-$200 for new in the box but I thought $600 was way steep. My 914 is no concourse car but... wow!

The rear reflectors are all either cut-down 911 parts, or aftermarket parts made specifically for the 914. (There may be some aftermarket 911 parts cut down as well.)

The factory never made a rear reflector for the 914.

Yes, that is why no aftermarket kit no matter how good of condition is worth $600. I could buy a new 911 replacement reflector, a trunk popper kit, and pay someone else to do all the work and it syill wouldn't cost $600.

I am glad everyone here was with me on this... I was afraid of the, "$600 what a deal... I paid over a thousand for one last year." type of post. Good to know these reflectors are not turning into something like those overpriced acrylic targa tops.

thanks all,

Does anyone just sell the solenoid or cable kit?

bernbomb914 11-24-2002 10:56 AM

solenoid kit

I bought one solenoid kit with wires at AA for 75.00

Check out some of the Hot Rod mags, there are companies who advertise in there that sell just the solenoids. Plus they are great ideas magazines. I see stuff in those mags that one could convert to a 914. Let imagination run wild...

We might carry it, not sure. (Talk to the guys in sales about it...) I'd bet GPR also does.
