Ala Peanut butter sandwhich (fab work)
Tony is amazing. Check this Sh_t out.
The situation: Install camber caster boxes and still utilize the factory gas tank. Have it all done by Nov. 20th for a open track day at Thill. Start on it last Thursday and finish it the next day. Mission complete. 18 hours total with aligment and corner weights. Who's NEXT ?? Come on Cambell... ![]() B |

My wallet is bleeding...the next projects depend how the xmas bonus sizes up. I need to buy the wife a car before I can dump any more into my toy, LOL.
JW is pushing a coil-over setup but as his crew chief/suspension guy says..."you can go awfully fast on torsion bars"...so I dunno if I will make the leap or not, with this car. I am thinking about doing a Patrick-type Fuel Safe cell in the stock tank, so good to know it would fit if I decide to go that route. BTW - that sure looks like a V8 car to me - gonna go racing in a Chebby teener?

The stock 914 front end is flexible enough, seems like you could just cut a small section out of the bulk head in front of the tank and then use the strut brace to pull the towers together :-)
Wouldn't help for caster much, but you could get a bunch 'o negative camber :-) Legal disclaimer: if anyone out there is cheap enough and gullible enough to actually try it, don't blame me....... |

Brad, I see that you grew up watching the Muppets since you think those are magic words!

POC just changed the rules for 2003, so coil-overs would hit me with mod points...the fuggers.
![]() Thru-bulkhead or pickup-point bracing tubes also ding me. For the moment they still allow you to get "negative points" by adding weight (ballast) to the car. So I can modify the he!! out of it if I want to add 100+lbs of lead to stay in class...

It is a Chebby and it is scary fast on the track. Very fun to drive.
Easily 10 seconds faster than our full prepped 4cyl 2.0 cars. B |

I forgot to mention all of this included a new anti roll bar and converting his Carrera struts to coil over utilizing Eibach 300# springs. Nevermind the conversion to roller bearing suspension in the front.
The car was amazingly neutral. I have never tracked a V8 914 until yesterday. You can feel the weight shift from side to side as you transition the car from left to right. B |

The 3.2 car would be 4-5 seconds behind this one. We could drive the entire track in 3rd gear using the massive torque from the SBC.
Equal drivers... still 4-5 seconds behind this one. B |
