Some 914 measurements needed
I'm doing some work on a 914 racecar that has has the windshield frame removed and replaced with a cage. We are considering putting a roof back on from a donor car. I'm trying to get an idea on whether or not this is feasible with the existing cage. I don't have another 914 to compare to and I am hoping someone can help me out with some measurements.
I'd like to know the height of the targa bar, the windshield frame, and if possible the angle of the windshield frame. Doesn't have to be down to the .0001", tape measure is fine. Thanks for any help you can give me! ![]() |

Once you get the rear bar back in place and have a rough measurement for the A pillars, would it be helpful to put the top on and check the measurement for the A pillars to make sure it all lines up?
Obviously you are a professional working on this car so please don't slap me for being Captain Obvious. That picture reminds me of my first Six.

Since you are in the San Diego area, give Sean Molloy a call at 619-341-0472 as he might well have a 914 with a cage like you are looking at doing? If the windshield frame, roof and targa bar were removed so the cage could be installed then the measurements should have been done before. When I installed the cage in my vintage 914, all those pieces were left in place and the cage installed. If the door is still on the car on either side and it still has the glass then simply roll the side window up all the way and the targa top would sit on the top edge of the glass. Note the targa top sides all drop off some and here is a picture of the top.
