Replace 914 fuel lines
I am looking to replace the plastic fuel lines thru the tunnel. Available kits appear to show front sections and back sections, each pushed through from their respective ends. How does one access the tube ends in the center of the tunnel to connect the halves?

tmcnaull, the two fuel lines in the tunnel go through to both ends, nothing in the middle. You pull the old ones out from below the engine on the fire wall. Install new (steel) from the rear forward. There are some good videos to help with the process. This is a lot easier if engine is removed, also if fuel tank is out just to remove the rubber gromet around front lines. Best, Mark

If the "kit" has four lengths of steel, then the two long ones go from the engine bay all the way uninterrupted through the tunnel and stick out an inch or two out of the front bulkhead. One is supply and one is return to the tank. As EMO993 mentioned, they are one piece. The two short ones you may be looking at go from behind the engine firewall up into the engine bay through a hole on the passenger side engine bay shelf.
There are some good diagrams here: http://bowlsby.net/914/Classic/TechNotebook.htm |
