Stock factory on both of my babies. I'm thinking of installing one in my 914 as well, but I dont know if I really want to. I'm still in the decision making stage.

Car alarm? Im just glad the key still works!

Maybe a kill switch would be an easier thing to do.

I don't want to get into wiring an alarm either but I've thought about getting a Lojac device. Does anyone use one? Have they come down in price at all?

I think I will install a remote starter/alarm combo. I am also going to install actuators for remote lock/unlock in my doors. Shouldn't be that difficult or expensive.

Hey guys, the alarms and door locks are not too much trouble to install. I have them for mine. The door locks were MUCH harder to install then the alarm was. Most good name alarms come with a very good wiring diagram. You should create your own wiring diagram BEFORE you start. The key to a good instal is GOOD prep time.

I have some photo's, wiring diagrams, and parts list I may submit to PParts tech section soon. Since my car is not in the driver mode yet I have not put the projects through the daily tests.

Cheers

I have an alarm installed in my 73'. I also had actuaters added for the power locks. Th problem I ran into with those was this. With these old lock the actuater needs a pretty straight shot with the rod. Usually you bend the actuater rod so you can set the actuater in an area that won't stick out. So my actuaters stick out a bit & keep the door panels from sitting flush like they are supposed to. I still like it but need to do something different for my door panels. I'll probably make some new panels out of fiberglass & a mededite mix (a type of pressboard). It is great not having to use a key in my old locks though. I think it is worth the trouble. Good luck whichever way you go!
