Prototype oil temp sump plate
While working on billet clutch wheel design, we decided what the hey, let's try this. So, here is the beginning of the sump plate that won't warp. Sans mounting holes, we'll get them in next session.

Sheez, Zeke.
That thing looks way too pretty to live on the bottom of the motor. If I had one I'd have to park over a mirror like at the car shows.

I remember a question like that and it did get answered. Maybe it wa someone else. But, anyway, the plate is on the bottom of the engine case, passenger side near the fan housing (right this time DD?) and looks simsilar to the plate where the oil pick up tube screen is (that one would be in the center of the case). It has 2 bolts. I'll post a pic tomorrow right here on this post.

Zeke
The plate is on the drivers side unless you have one of those rare 914 buses, or maybe you live in the UK, lol. ![]() Look under the engine, the big round plate in the center is the sump plate, the other one, just a bit smaller with two 10mm head size bolts, is the plate in question. Don't take it out without dumping the oil, unless you like black teeth, yum. ![]() |

Nice clean case, but you need to pretty-up those cylinders! How about some Nickies? LOL...
I too am interested in the sump plate. Mike |

I don't mean to change the topic of this thread, but that case is going to have a 68mm knife edge crank, 96mm pistons, and extensive head work with a huge cam. Other mods yet to be determined. Birals might be good as well. This is the 7000 RPM motor that I want for racing.

Milt,
A short stroke 2-liter? What sort of rev limit do you expect? Carbs? If so what type and size? Thanks. Mike |
