As long as the pump in question will pump the required flow and maintain the correct pressure, the system doesn't care what kinda of pump it is.
Pre 75 fuel pump: Flow minimum - 13.2 gph Pressure - 34 psig Post 75 pump: Flow minimum - 16.4 gph Pressure - 35.7 psig According to the Haynes gods. Requirements are for both L & D jet. I believe the "smog cars" ('75-'76) used more fuel to make cleaner air.

They're not the same, but as Ron said, one will work as well as the other.

No snow yet - not cold enough. I'm at 5000' ~ sno level was above 7000.
Without getting my manual - (it's 5 AM and I can't see) - S= Suction (from the tank) R = Return (to the tank) D = Pressure to the system (don't know the bratwurst word)

Druck - bratwurst word on oil pressure gauge in 911 so I think it means pressure.

bringing back an old thread
I have a 914 that's been a huge money hole, and I'm looking to get rid of it, the mechanic has told me it's the fuel pump which has gone bad. Earlier in the post a member listed the fuel pressure and flow ratings for the different fuel pumps. Will a 75 pump wokr on a 74? It's certainly not an ideal solution, but I WANT TO GET RID OF THIS ONE. Please help me if you can as this has simply gotten too expensive.

money hole? check ebay for pumps, certainly under $50 i think. If not, I have an early and a late pump, you can have your choice.
You could just give that money hole to a charitable cause- me. PD
