Dashboard noise
This past week, I started hearing odd noise from the dashboard of my 914. It sounds like a plastic cup full of washers. Sound comes from directly in front of the steering wheel, near top of dash. Has gotten much worse in the last two days.
I have time to work on this tomorrow. Does anyone have any advice to give before then? What is the best way to get into the dash? Can the top be removed or do I have to look from underneath? How about face? Could it be windshield clips? Windshield moves slightly at bottom but sound seems lower than that. Any helpful hints will be appreciated. Thanx |

Try taling out the gauges, they are just held in by friction with rubber rings. Or unscrew the four rtaining screws on the gauge cluster. Somtimes the bulbs fall inti the gauges and cause this sound. Other than that... maybe the PO forgot a cup full of washers in the dash.
