Porsche Crest Time to measure your sticks, boys

Dipsticks that is.

I have 2 different dipsticks from different motors. The "full" lines are nearly 3 1/2 inches different when measured from the base of the handle.

Dipstick # 1-- 9 1/4"
Dipstick # 2-- 12 3/4"

The one I had on my original motor was the lower of the 2 (stick #2) which if it is wrong meant I was running around with too little oil even when it read full (or it is the correct stick which means the other one would be waaay too full)

Could I ask a few of you to do me a favor and measure the distance from the base of the handle to the full line on your cars' dipsticks? A few responses would answer the question pretty quiclky for me.

I kind of supect one of mine may have been scavenged off a bus or 411, where the stick rides low on the case.

Many TIA

Why dont you drain the oil then put in the correct amount then check the dip stick and mark the correct level.

Porsche Crest Well...

Isn't the truly important thing how deep it goes?

Thanks everyone. I thought as much.

Applies to both dipsticks and colonoscopies.
