Alt light illuminates on dash board.

When I pull the headlights on and crusing down the road everything is cool, but stopped at a red light the idle drops and my red alt light illuminates on the dash board. Is my alt about to dump or is my alt belt just loose? Can anybody out there enlighten me on this situation?

Clean up the fuses. Seriously--take some contact cleaner and a brass brush, and clean the ends of every fuse. Also the "fingers" that hold them. That will mostly clear up this problem, 90% sure.

Dave is correct and I would like to add close inspection of the fuse contact ends for cracks before you clean with brush. You could inadvertantly conceal hair line cracks on the fuse ends.
