engine assembly question-what type gasket sealer?

Tom wilson's book said Permatex 3H gasket sealer may be used for all engine sealing needs. I am going to seal the case halves with the sealant used for 911 cases (Locktite 574?). The thrucase bolt washers and oil pump gasket areas were other areas which I intend to use Permatex HYLOMAR HPF gasket dressing and flange sealant. Is this superior to the Permatex 3H in these applications? Anyone has actual field experience with these sealants?

I used the 3H and the Hylomar where you indicated. I also used teflon sealant at the big end of the push rod tubes so they could move and not breadk the seal (hylomar) at the case. No leaks on break-in.

When I rebuilt my 2.0 I used Curil for the cases.
