Tricks to opening the front trunk
Guys,
9 Magazine recently purchased two 914's for project cars. One is a 1971 the other is a 1975. Both cars front trunks are jammed, one the pull hand operates but nothing happens, the other seems to be locked. However the keys supplied with the car doesn't work the truck handle lock. How can we open the trunks? Brian Minson Pubisher/Editor 9, The DIY Porsche Magazine http://www.9magazine.com |
Do what the PO did on my car, use cutting torch to cut a hole in the bottom on the front trunk. It has to be large enough so you can crawl in.
No that's not how to do it. In the Haynes manuel page 197 sec 14. 1. Remove front bumper 2. Remove the rubber plug form the cross panel, just above the lower part of the lock. 3. Actuate the lock bolt to disengage the lock using a screwdriver. There is a pic on the next page too. Geoff |
Geoff has got it right. I had to do it when it was 5 degrees one night and I needed gas. Good luck.

Thanks for your help guys! On the 71 914 we have the front bumper was already removed for us, and on the 75 914 we found that you don't need to remove the bumper, simply pop the rubber plug and insert the screwdriver.
Once again thanks, Brian Minson Publisher 9, The DIY Porsche Magazine http://www.9magazine.com |
